@ 25 Leo 08

Sabian Symbol for 26 Leo: “After the heavy storm, a rainbow.”

Is it the promise of gold at the end of the rainbow – or the projection of your multi-colored soul onto the whole world – that is your true goal?

Our choices are becoming more clear.

As Mars and Saturn conjunct at the New Moon, it’s time to ask ourselves if we’re evolving as a society that has a problem with equality. Is it now socially acceptable to replace community with “i got mine, get your own” ?

[Astronomical facts: August 17: Sun and Moon are conjunct (in the same degree) in Leo; Mars and Saturn are conjunct in Libra and sextile (60 degrees from) the Sun and Moon.]

[Astrological facts: the New Moon is ruled by Leo, Sun is in its rulership sign in Leo]

On August 15, 2 days before the New Moon, Mars and Saturn conjunct while square the Moon in Cancer. And Venus opposes Pluto. Emotions and frustration can build. Mean intentions and condescending remarks can find you feeling extra sensitive, offended and defensive. Feels can get hurt. Patience seems to be wearing thin…

Friendly sarcastic comments can bite, leaving you wondering… do you have friends or frenemies.

Do bullies have something to teach us about ourselves?

Saturn is approaching the end of it’s stay in Libra, the sign of social acceptability. What new standards for social acceptability have we set over the past (almost) 3 years? Is the use of guns and arson to settle social disputes and cultural differences now acceptable? Who is the enemy? As Saturn makes its transit through social-minded Libra, some of us may wonder if a new “social norm” is emerging. Or if we can still disagree without insulting. With this configuration, there may be considerable cutting below-the-belt.

Hurt feelings can cut deeper — yet, may benefit from quick processing.

What happens to insults thrown around like its normal, or even funny? If left unacknowledged and untreated, hurt feelings can eat away at our confidence and grow into blocks and obstacles that frustrate our progress and can severely slow down our energy. As we approach the Leo New Moon with Mars-Saturn conjunct, there can be a build-up of mean-spirited words and deeds designed to sting — and CUT DEEP. But who really caused us to feel hurt? What old defenses are being uncomfortably exposed? And how much soul-damaging low-vibrational anger and hatred are the haters embedding within themselves? And why are we feeding them energy by focusing on them anyway?! And what about real world CUTS to budgets — especially for seniors, as symbolized by SATURN. This is real and dangerous. Do we care? Or are we focused on our own overwhelming problems.

At the New Moon in Leo we can receive insights into how our emotional FOCUS changes what we feel. Our interpretation of events and interactions influences our ability, or not, to make progress. Do we let insults and anger hold us back? Do we harbor the belief that the insulter is “right?” Not at the LEO New Moon – when we can reaffirm our true essence, renew and rejuvenate our Selves. Being open and honest with your inner Self can help you shed the old limiting baggage of hurt feeling so you can focus on using your social skills productively. It’s the little defensive things we do, the condescending remarks, a ‘tone’ of voice, that can cause the most upset in our relationships. Respect your pace and your process. Remember your life goals. And plan well for the best.

The reward for letting go of negative projections can be the ability to focus on your professional goals — even if they really do take tremendous effort and attention. Mars-Saturn can help you follow through on the most difficult details and tasks. Letting your ego get you upset or defensive is what can dampen your energy, not the work itself.

The problem with being terminally (Saturn) selfish (Mars) is this: Mars and Saturn are conjunct in LIBRA — the sign of social partnership. And diplomacy. And Saturn (exalted in Libra) insists on socially correct actions. This can be a very helpful transit — if you’re working for the good of society. You can still bask in the glow of accomplishment — the New Moon’s in LEO.

It comes down to this: are you going to look for things to complain about, or ways to get things working? This is high-focus energy that can be easily derailed by a defensive attitude. Or, accelerated by getting seriously involved. Use your tools.

Mercury is in Leo inconjunct Pluto – exact on August 11. The truth is being stretch to its yogic limits,,, yet it seems so charming. And since Chiron is sextile Pluto, they both inconjunct Mercury at the New Moon. That’s a YOD formation, unless you refuse to acknowledge Chiron, who is already wounded yet continues to be a mentor/teacher/guide symbol. Information may not come to you directly, try as you might to find it. Is someone holding something back? Or are you just not getting it. Maybe you’re not quite ready to make the necessary stretch to receive information from a teacher or guide. And maybe people don’t quite understand what you’re saying.

It is interesting that Mitt Romney announced his VEEP running mate as Mercury and Neptune approached exact conjunction. And further, that Mercury-Neptune plays heavily in both their charts on Election Day. Illusive? Or charming?

And — Mars conjunct Saturn — real CUTS (Mars) to budgets especially targeting seniors (Saturn). Sure, who cares except seniors and if you’re not one, it may seem too abstract to be of much concern. But for those of us (hello!) who are seniors or close to it, Mars-Saturn coming with the VEEP announcement looms real and large. Saturn represents materialized reality.

Perhaps this is a time to remember that besides fulfilling what we came to be and share (Mars in Libra), we are also here to learn soul lessons (Saturn).

Transiting aspects are not one-shot events. Conjunctions signal the beginning of a new cycle, a new phase. Since the Mars-Saturn conjunction in Libra occurs along with a New Moon, the energy of this aspect is at a peak, but its influence is just beginning…

  1. Thank you so much for you insightful post here. It is so easy to jump into the comfortable shell of selfish preoccupation while the world turns and change happens. Are we on the crest of the wave or merely tossed around by the surf? That is up to each of us.
