Change!

Filed under: astrology — inspiredastrology @ 11:23 am

We say we want CHANGE, yet we cling to old ways, terrified of anything new. We resist change. With all our might. We NEED our things. We NEED things the way they are. Yet, when we resist, we create tension. And like playing tug of war, if either side releases, they both go flying. Resistance is only building more momentum for change!

The reason WE (or enough of us) elected W is that he is just like you (not me, i’m a NYC downtown artist, but ya know). That’s all good stuff. No problem with apple pie and tailgating parties, though I’ve always questioned SUVs except when appropriate. But I do have a huge problem with the attitude– if you’re not just like me, i don’t like you. That IS a problem. That negates people, which is the opposite of a spiritual attitude. And it separates. And that is exactly the attitude that has to change before we will see any real change. And this IS the time to do it! Mars conjunct Jupiter in Aquarius at the last Lunar Eclipse, time of changing and expanding inner states of consciousness.

The other part of the W-style leadership attitude that got us in trouble is the spoiled brat who cries and kicks when it doesn’t get its way. Doing whatever you want and whining and blaming others is very youthful behavior. It shows no self-reflection. And although the wheel that squeaks may get greased, it is like taking care of children who freak if they don’t get their way, who refuse to understand anything about efficient and effective use of resources (Saturn in Virgo). Adult Saturn opposing all the Aquarian planets makes this point. Saturn is not just an authority-figure to tear down and oppose, it has a point that comes from experience. If we don’t honor our past, we will not know how we got where we are, we will be missing important information.

What I’d like to tell you today is the length of the economic meltdown. It is not over. Duh. Venus is stationing Retrograde right now, and in the Heliocentric chart (from the Sun’s perspective, the one i use for financial planning) the next 2 weeks can be a low point as the Earth approaches Saturn and opposes Uranus (this is the current HELIOCENTRIC chart). Then, as Venus makes its Retrograde station and goes back to 0 Aries– the cardinal point– and beyond to 29 Pisces, we are going to be ready to make changes that come from the inside out. Basic changes. Back to basics.

And keep in mind, Saturn and Uranus will oppose for the last time, with both planets direct, on September 15. Then, we will be ready to proceed, understanding the past and able to plan a fabulous future.

And until we can get there, deep within each of our souls, the economy is going to continue to be scary. Big business will continue to try to maintain their position of power, after all, they have controlled much of what happens for a long time, and relinquishing that will not happen without a struggle, if it happens at all. But their holding on can do more to ruin the economy than trying to find equitable ways to gain and spend money.

But— there’s a new sheriff in town. the US has a new leader. And he is rising in is ability to lead in a way that inspires AND positively encourages change. This is change that is INCLUSIVE, not exclusive. There is so much ego, i have found it useless to discuss the US chart, every astrologer has THE chart they use, and it’s THE ONLY chart that works. So instead of discussing the issues, they argue over whose chart is better. Then the energy goes down, everyone forgets the original point we came to discuss, and nothing is resolved. So, regardless of your choice of chart, as a practicing astrologer, my opinion is that our new leader is gaining in his ability to put his vision into practice. He is gaining in popularity and a general understanding of the current situation, in all areas.  So, hopefully putting our need to be the ONLY ONE who holds power, another W characteristic, and looking at the broader view so more people can be enlightened quickly, we see Jupiter approaching the US Moon at the top of the chart. People are getting ready, in their souls, in their very selves, for a massive positive change. Yes, it will include educating yourself. Dummy-down is over, unless you are really set on making a mess of your life and contributing nothing. That illusion just got revealed for what it is, an escape from moving forward into what really is the new age.

My article on Venus Retrograde will be posted soon.

Before you let yourself flip out again, take a breath. Another. Another. Keep in mind the intentions of most people. It is to help, not hurt. If it’s really that bad, find an intelligent way to make a statement. As Mercury passes between Mars and Jupiter, it’s a great time to remember the tenets of good communication; is it kind, is it necessary to share, is it helpful? Speaking from this point can help your communications to be more effective for you and everyone.

Have a great day!

New Moon of February 24, 2009

astrology chart for the new moon of february 24, 2009

You can read the symbols using artcharts LEGEND

Since the Lunar Eclipse, and continuing through this week, Mars and Jupiter are traveling together in the sky. This week, Mercury joins to form a triple conjunction, which also includes the Lunar North Node (a point, not a planet, yet influential).

This is high energy. In Aquarius, it’s time to put serious energy into networking. And with the Sun and Moon in Pisces, it’s time to be more compassionate when you network. Pisces is a sign of higher math and finance, and this New Moon is the perfect time to get together with like-minded groups and friends because the NEW ideas you throw around now could just be the beginning of something BIG. Jupiter magnifies everything it touches. And with Mars, you can be unstoppable.

But what if you want everything! This combo can be so exuberant, you can overpromise the world. Mars heats, and it also cuts. This conjunction can heat temperatures and cut prices, and as Mercury conjoins, jobs. Especially jobs connected with Mercury and Jupiter, which is publishing, transportation, education; all the things that make the world go round. Yet, as we all come together to share, the new ideas we generate can take us further along on the road to progress faster than ever thought possible.

So why is there resistance? For that we look to Saturn. Saturn is opposing Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, and there’s a concentration of energy in Aquarius. So all this uber exuberance has to be correctly digested and used appropriately, in an ordered and exacting way since Saturn is in Virgo. For example, you can use technology if you read and follow the directions. Then, you can use technology to your best advantage. I will continue this discussion in a new post I’m writing called: money in the new age. I’m making notes, but it’s hard to find the time these days….

mars conjuncts jupiter and the north node: is this really the beginning?

Filed under: astrology, mars, mercury, venus — Tags: , , — inspiredastrology @ 12:23 pm

On Valentine’s Day, when the Moon was in Libra, the 7th sign, Jupiter was aligned with Mars. Some sites said this was the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. The DAWN is the very beginning, and as astrologers have noted, Aquarius is not necessarily a sign of peace.

And Mars-Jupiter is known for many traits, but making peace is not strong among them. It’s more like a brave warrior who wants to fight to prove their self-worth. Or a bubble asking to be POPPED!

Everything that happens now can be exaggerated.

While Jupiter is generosity, Mars cuts, so they’re conjunction also cuts feelings of generosity, and funding for generosity. Massive numbers of people are getting laid off now, literally having their wages cut to an unemployment check IF they’re “lucky” (Jupiter) and their states are not bankrupt or on the verge. Publishing, ruled by Jupiter, is feeling the effects as multitudes of editors have recently lost their jobs.

Mercury-Mars-Jupiter-NorthNode in Aquarius at Oscar time made international films the big winners of the year. And, since Aquarius also rules homosexuality (really, absolute equality between the sexes), the academy was “homoloving” enough to pick Sean Penn over Micky Rourke, as Saturn, ruling aging, isn’t all that involved in this chart.

Our collective philosophy of “manifest destiny” or, collectively pretending we are better than everyone else– is being shown for what it is. The past. “manifest destiny” may seem to give us the world, yet because we are “supposed” to have it all, we have no gratitude for what we have. And gratitude raises your vibrations, makes you happy and keeps you moving forward. Gratitude makes you a happy, functional person with great ideas and an open mind. Lack of gratitude cuts all that out, leaving you wondering, why you don’t have more. It cuts any access to your own source of ideas. Yet, since you feel no appreciation for what you already have, you are left with a kind of blank, like your bank account may be starting to look.

It is time to get past the numbness. And there’s good reason for numbness, it’s covering something that might be painful.

The dawning of the Age of Aquarius is a time of transition. It’s no longer dark, yet it’s still not fully light. Transitions are times of crossing over towards change. We are at the time limit of one phase, yet the next is not fully developed yet. And while we say we want change, we are resistant and defensive to anyone who suggests anything new or different. There’s a moment when we have to let go without being certain of the future. And that’s a scary point. Yet, doing it and getting to the other side is real and empowering. Truly awesome.

Mars may lower prices and cut jobs. Since all aspects are relative, this is good and bad, depending on your perspective. If real estate prices continue to rise, who could afford to even RENT an apartment? Nevermind buy? Sure, there are plenty of stockbrokers and investment brokers, oops, not so much anymore. The 300 sq ft apartments in my (tenement) building in Manhattan have been renting for around $2300 a month. They have a granite countertop. Which added $500 to the monthly rent. After 7 vacancies, the price has come down to the bargain rate of $1740 a month. And that’s the cheapest it’s been in about 10 years. So come live in NYC! Why is NYC so great? Anytime you get yourself all up in your ego, feeling good, looking great, and you go outside anywhere, someone is going to let you know “you ain’t all that.” It’s a constant reality check. Sometimes too much, hence the love-hate NYers feel.

Venus, planet of love and money, is making a helpful aspect to transiting Mercury-Mars-Jupiter as she sextiles from Aries. And since Venus is about to station Retrograde (March 6-April 17), this will continue to happen over this spring. What you are now rushing past you may come to value and appreciate a lot more, once you get down to it!

To your abundant prosperity,

Lunar Eclipse of February 9, 2009

Filed under: astrology, eclipse, lunar eclipse, new moon — Tags: , — inspiredastrology @ 12:41 pm

Lunar Eclipse on February 9, 2009
Full Moon: Moon opposes Sun at 9:49 AM EST
Sun at 21 Aquarius 00; Moon at 21 Leo 00

The chart for the February 9th Lunar Eclipse is like a classic “locomotive chart”, with the Moon in Leo driving the train and Saturn right behind her in Virgo. All the other planets are on the opposite site of the chart, meaning that everyone is watching and wondering what he’ll do. By he, we can’t help but think of one of the most famous Leos on the planet, our new President Obama. In Mr. Obama’s chart, the Eclipse Moon is between his Sun and Uranus, within 2 degrees of his Descendant (7th house cusp), the place in the chart that represents how you deal with relationships. In Mr. Obama’s chart, he is literally straight forward. The Ascendant-Descendant horizon line represents what you put out and how it is reflected, back at you and in general.

The important question to ask yourself on this Lunar Eclipse is what do you get by pointing out what you think is a fault in another, even if your faults are significantly more immediately detrimental to yourself and others. It is avoidance. Fear. Fear of looking directly at YOURSELF and being ok with what you see, good and bad. It’s ok. It is NOT shameful to be you. And thinking it is gives you what seems to be permission to rank on others. It does NO good, it DOES harm, and it is universal harm. Telling everyone to STOP IT is pointless, they won’t and it can even stir up the ego to refute it, point by point, as if that mattered! So, moving on….

In astrology, oppositions imply a CHOICE. We have a choice. Several in fact as Saturn opposes Uranus and almost all the planets oppose the Lunar Eclipse Moon. Are YOU doing everything you think you should? The point is, it may not really be possible to do everything at once. But, we can probably do more than we’re doing now. If there seems to be no time to do more, it’s a question of priorities and using your time more productively, not wasting as much time feeling bad about yourself or thinking about how someone is such a bad person because of endless reasons. Try using that time to do things you want to do, not diverting your energy into busy work. Make a choice to change your thoughts, open your mind, see situations more clearly.

Mercury Direct, 1/2 way to Spring, and a Grand Trine!

Filed under: Grand Trine, astrology — Tags: , — inspiredastrology @ 5:04 pm

Ground Hog’s Day * Imbolc * Brighid * Candlemas

All these holidays celebrate the 1/2 way point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox (Solstinox?;-). Ground Hog’s Day is February 2. And the exact astrological midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox is February 3 at 11:51 AM EST.

We’re 1/2 way to Spring! The light is returning! This astro GroundHog thinks the Sun will shine on the East Coast over the next few weeks, even if temps remain seasonal. Uranus, ruler of the Sun in Aquarius, is opposing Saturn, the teaching/correction planet, in a cool match of resistance (exact on Feb 5). Change is what other people “should” do– there are serious reasons our lives are the way they are. We can find plausible excuses for our patterns, and continue to experience resistance to change. However, we can also see through our resistance to the next step…
<br><br>
Saturn will oppose Uranus again on September 15, so this is just getting interesting. To accomplish any hope or dream, it will take effort, focus, and the determination to push past resistance. How you use your energy is a personal decision, but the Saturn-Uranus opposition is likely to reveal and thereby (hopefully) solve whatever impedes change. Like Citicorp purchasing a new $50 billion corporate jet after receiving a bailout, and being forced to return it by the new Secretary of the Treasury. The resistance is just too glaring.

There are and will be more articles about Saturn-Uranus on the blog, including the Grand Trine of Mercury-Saturn-Moon at Winter-Spring 1/2 time and what that might mean for your income/business/brain in the weeks ahead.

This quick Grand Trine is in Earth, and makes a Kite with Uranus in Pisces. The Moon in Taurus is trine Saturn in Virgo is trine Mercury Direct in Capricorn. Saturn is opposing Uranus in Pisces. this is a time to clearly envision your success. Be specific. Include all the details that will make it seem more real as you visualize.

Doing all the detailed and clerical work it takes to accomplish anything can be seen as a ritual. As you complete each detail, your plan becomes a little more real. Saturn in Virgo helps us to establish rituals. Rituals can be helpful or they can become ruts, it depends on why we start a ritual. If we are trying to meet a goal, then the ritual is part of the process. If we are staying busy because of fear, our rituals become routine ruts.

If you’re really serious about your work and doing world service, another key in this midwinter configuration is the trine of Mercury and Saturn at Mercury’s Direct station. This shows that to move forward, we have to be respectful of the professional standards of others. We cannot expect people who have devoted themselves to a field to give and give and give with no thought of any energy being returned. No one can do that and expecting it will cause unrealistic expectations that cause stress. You cannot expect yourself or others to work without pay. That is just not happening anywhere. If people want to donate, that is their decision. But expecting or demanding it is not going to help anyone function more productively now. And you can be so productive over the next few weeks!

This also shows it is not enough to think good thoughts. You also have to manifest. It’s not good enough to say, well everyone wished me well. That doesn’t cut it now, in this economic downturn, to turn others down. We are in this mess due to a failure of perspective, and encouraging more of the same will not change anything. It’s a good thing Venus is going to station Retrograde in a month, because we really do need some time to rethink our values before we jump off a cliff, a talent of Aries.
