Venus and Mars are traveling together and will form an exact conjunction on Friday, August 20.

Here’s the chart for the Venus-Mars conjunction:

venus conjuncts mars on august 20, 2010

Venus and Mars conjunct exactly as Mercury makes a Retrograde station, on August 20, 2010.

The Venus-Mars conjunction is in Libra. Libra is ruled by Venus making this union a symbol of energetically sharing friendship, love, affection, money.

The Venus-Mars conjunction. visible with Saturn in the evening sky, is sextile the Moon tonight, inspiring fun, love, passion, and a hot sale on the Io Transit Forecast from now through eternity- or December 2012. Find out more here….

As Venus and Mars conjunct, they can generate affectionate energy and the desire for love and companionship. It’s however you enjoy your partner, whether it’s enjoying the conflict of debate, or the warmth of affection, or the joy of pursuit.

Neptune is sesquisquare the Venus-Mars conjunction. Seems trivial, but let’s look at it, since 1/8 aspects are manifestors.

Neptune on a sesquisquare (135 degree) oblique angle to Venus-Mars suggests subtle, sideways projections. When keep our rosy glasses on when we need to look at our shadow, we run the danger of projecting our shadow onto evil, mean others. It gets frustrating because we’re not looking at our own part, how we’re playing into it, what we’re hoping to get out of it. So we stay the poor me victim, while blaming all the bad people. We don’t need to do that once we realize what we’re doing. We can take back our projections and watch them dissolve.

The sesquisquare from Neptune to Venus and Mars also suggests the need for some kind of sacrifice for love. Disappointments may have to be handled without upsetting the emotional balance of those near and dear.

Note: Since Venus is approaching a Retrograde station (Oct 8), she is already slowing down motion enough to keep pace with slower-moving Mars. This means Venus and Mars will remain in close conjunction through mid October, giving you more time to consider who and what you really want, and what you’re willing to do to have that.

Venus-Mars gets more interesting (which is why it got its own post) as they both changes signs in September and enter Scorpio. At that point, they move from Venus-ruled Libra into Mars-ruled Scorpio. What goes around, comes around, and this is a good time to see things from different sides without having to go very far.

Come join us on facebook. I’ve been posting my thoughts on the Moon and her e=motions~

The New Moon in Leo, on August 9, or 8 – 9 – 10.

The New Moon in Leo is at 17 Leo 25.

Shine on!

New Moons are times of renewal. The Leo New Moon renews our self-love. We can feel more alive and animated, bursting with personal pride, which can make us seem bigger and better than ever! We’re warm, tan, shining and filled with golden light and radiating love. The sesquisquare to Jupiter warns us of being so filled with self-importance, that we overestimate our potential or our moral superiority. We can fly too high (overestimate our reach) and burn up in the Sun’s rays. Yet this Leo New Moon also reminds us that being filled with genuine love and appreciation can add to our happiness. Thinking we automatically deserve a reward sets us up for being sad and disappointed. You are more than that! Being open to life as unfolds gives us more opportunities to be happy. The Leo New Moon is the time to be happy– just to be alive!

Here’s the astrology chart for the New Moon in Leo:

As Venus enters Libra, she conjunctions Saturn (just into Libra at 01Libra28) and Mars at 5Libra01. This is a tight threesome! It’s not an exact mathematical midpoint, however, Saturn is contained between Venus and Mars, and all 3 will be visible in the evening sky. If visibility adds to their influence, this threesome is caught “with their pants down!” Much like the myth of Aphrodite and Hephaestus, another Saturnian figure of Greek myth who caught his beautiful wife, Aphrodite (Venus) making love with the god, Ares. Here again we have Venus and Mars, separated by Saturn. And this time they are in opposition to Jupiter-Uranus and square Pluto. We are at a crucial point!

At this Leo New Moon, Venus, Saturn, and Mars are in Venus-ruled Libra, the feminine part of each of us has a major role to play. That means we need to consciously become more cooperative. Subtle sneering and suspicion only keep the hate alive and thriving, stopping progress and goodwill. Not everyone really wants progress or good will, or realizes what they have to do to create it, so until more of us are energetically and consciously aligned with a more peaceful purpose, we will continue to play one side against the other. Getting “rid” of your shadow doesn’t mean shutting it up in the basement or pointing out the faults of everyone else. It means being able to look at it. The courage has to come from within first, or you’ll never believe it from anyone else.

To underscore the feminine/anima importance of this New Moon even further, Vesta, goddess of the heart, the centering principle, joins Saturn, Libra, and Mars and enters Libra (Monday, before the New Moon), creating a stellium of planets in early Libra (a stellium is 3 or more planets in conjunction); this stellium — including Vesta, Saturn, Venus, and Mars — is square Pluto and opposing Jupiter and Uranus. (Mercury seems close to Libra, but will station Retrograde August 20). Even Mars is in Venus-ruled Libra, converting it’s active energy into cooperative, social energy. Yet, the oppositions and squares tell us not everything is flowing smoothly.

This stellium, including a Vesta-Saturn conjunction at a highly active point (early Libra), means that we have to focus on socializing; we have to make socializing work FOR us. We really do need social interaction. Many of us are starting to take social media more seriously, businesses of all kinds are onboard, but we are also flirting with using friends as tools and sometimes getting lost in facebook. Not all our socializing may lead to true or lasting friendship but it is still a way for us to get to know each other– it’s time to reach out and interact in new ways for friendship and publicity. And if you use your social time productively, it can lead to greater success as you share your dedication and commitment with the world.

New Moons make the energy more personal, they help us take it into the deepest parts of ourselves and know the sign in a new way. In Leo we celebrate the Self, we let ourselves shine and show our best!

Happy Lammas! your midsummer astro weather forecast

______________________________________________

The midpoint of summer is the time between the summer solstice and fall equinox, known as Lammas (Loaf Mass) Festival of Bread. This is the high point of the Sun power, the peak time for plentiful fruits and vegetables.

Astrologically, the exact midpoint of Summer Solstice and Fall Equinox is 15 degrees Leo. This year, that occurs on August 7.

Here’s a chart for the Midpoint of Summer 2010:

summer midpoint

Charts for the changes of seasons can be used to predict likely weather patterns, using the 4th house cusp (IC) as the weather indicator. You can also look at the Midheaven (MC) directly opposite the IC. This chart, cast for NYC has Capricorn on the 4th house cusp (IC), as the weather indicator. Saturn, ruler of Capricorn is contained between Venus and Mars– opposing Uranus-Jupiter and square Pluto.

2010 has been the hottest summer on record! At Summer Solstice, Venus ruled the IC of the Summer Solstice chart and Venus was in Sun-ruled Leo. When Venus entered Virgo, Mercury ruler of virgo, was in Sun-ruled Leo. It was still hot! When Mercury entered Virgo, temperatures became reasonable, or seasonable.

The midsummer chart shows extreme changes in the weather. The action of Saturn is cooling. The conjunction of Venus and Saturn suggests temperate weather and some rain before the Summer Midpoint, then heat as Mars conjuncts Saturn, followed by wild intense storm. The weather is likely to be more intense as you move West from the East Coast, intensifying most in the USA midsection.

The chart for midsummer includes the Moon in early Cancer, completing the Grand Cardinal Square. Taking responsibility is not an easy task. There are deterrents and roadblocks in every direction! Impulsive, emotional reactions can keep you stuck in a rut, especially if you’re acting on your (repressed) feelings, and thereby not seeing the whole picture or able to think clearly.

The extreme weather in the Midwest (and China) is already starting as HOT meets COLD and weather fronts clash. The weather channel is reporting intense storms with more tornados predicted through the New Moon (Monday 8/9/10).
