[ArtCharts] Inspired Astrology Newsletter: First Quarter Moon in Scorpio

First Quarter Moon in Scorpio: to your success

First Quarter Moon in Scorpio [Friday, August 8 @ 4:20 pm edt]
[Moon @ 16 Scorpio 38]
[Sun @ 17 Leo 38]
[South Node @ 18 Leo 01]

Between the Solar and Lunar Eclipses comes the First Quarter Moon in Scorpio. Exactly on 080808 and the start of the Olympics in China. The Solar Eclipse just went through China, and now China is showing its finest to an anxiously waiting world. The Sun in Leo is approaching the degree of the South Node last Friday’s Solar Eclipse. Something hidden is coming into focus. And with the Moon in investigative Scorpio, that can be anything from your financial picture to a deeply held secret.

This is a time of empowerment. You can also use power to increase your wealth and magnetically attract what you desire. The Moon in Scorpio cautions us to be ethical when it comes to how we use our power to increase our wealth. In Scorpio, we may want to invest what we have wisely, yet with the Sun in Leo, the temptation to splurge is strong.

The conflict is that while you want to show your best, you may feel compelled to hide your truth. Maybe you don’t feel ready to share, or maybe sharing would open something for exploration that you’d rather not see. Perhaps there’s a fear that you won’t like what you see. Or someone else will use it against you.

The Sun and Moon are in fixed signs. This is a time to hold onto your power by being persistent. To maintain your power, you may have to show a little of your sparkle, yet keep your inner secrets hidden deep inside.

But hiding power can also limit your influence. When does self-protection become a life ruled by fears and suspicions? If you are holding on to power to feel in control, you may start to lose your connection to your creativity. Feeling that exposure will harm your image or make you a target for rejection can work against your ability to delve into your many hidden layers. And that can keep your creative treasures locked away, even from you. Peeling back the layers can be scary as it reveals what you don’t want to see. But covering it up keeps your fears in control.

What to do? Let out some tension by having FUN! Leo loves to play. And playing isn’t juvenile:-) Play can happen on many levels, from childlike to sophisticated. Releasing secrets, even to yourself, can ease tensions and help you to feel more open and less suspicious. And most of all, decide you will be successful. Intend it. And then release your need for extra drama that keeps you locked into behaviors that haven’t worked in the past and won’t help in the future.

Yet, the Sun in Leo is conjunct the South Lunar Node. We’ve been through this before! The Sun conjunct the South Node can make us wonder what happened to our potential. We can feel out of tune with the prevailing social trends, and wonder who feels good about everything that’s happening. We are at a literal crossroads. What kind of leadership do we want? The Sun conjunct the South Node during the current Eclipses suggests a comfort in the familiar. Or we can strive forward, even if the future is unknown, as symbolized by the Sun opposing the North Node.

Today, 08-08-08 is an opportunity. Right between the eclipses, this day reminds us that we DO make a difference. That sharing a good attitude goes far, and so does sending negative vibes. Feeling good or bad is our choice. We can dare to delve and release our negative beliefs. Or we can keep our secrets and keep our life as-is.

Without judgment or drama you can find a balance between flaunting what you may or may not have– and keeping your treasures locked away and secret.

_______________

The Total Eclipse/New Moon is in Leo: standstill and awed:
connecting with your inner genius for possible group illumination.

There are times when we are awed. Eclipses are one of those times.

When we attend events, we gather in large groups to WATCH something. With perfect timing, this Eclipse coincides with the Olympics in Beijing while the Eclipse goes visibly through China, opening that country to the entire world. And as our attention goes to the main event, our minds quiet down, we stop talking, we stop thinking about what we need to get next, and we focus. On what? On someone or something doing something outside of time. We watch time stand still. We wait with baited breath as the athlete leaps through the air and does the impossible. And all together, we take a deep breath, we sigh, we are awed. We have witnessed someone going beyond what seems like normals boundaries to reach into their inner genius and do the undoable.

At the Eclipse, we watch the Sun and the Earth seem to stand still. We SEE the Moon reflected in the Sun. We SEE the planets in orbit, and they seem to stand still, just for a few minutes. We gasp, we are watching something much larger than ourselves. We are in awe.

And this experience of group AWE reminds us of our own inner genius. It opens a new doorway, a new consciousness arises. We have gone through something. We can’t go back.

Click here for a Solar Eclipse diagram on Wikipedia

But what does this Total Solar Eclipse mean? Astrologically, the inner planets — Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus — are in Leo, along with the South Lunar Node. This is a dramatic time. We are not in the mood for clever ideas, we don’t want to talk, we don’t need to get emotional– we’re in the mood to passionately pursue what we want.

This Solar Eclipse is conjunct the South Lunar Node (all Eclipses are conjunct either the South or North Lunar Node, it’s what makes them Eclipses), so we are literally full of ourselves. We feel there should be no limits to how much we can have. We want more and we may not feel much gratitude for what we have, or appreciation towards those who have given to us, dismissing it as nothing or not enough. We do not think we should have to count our blessings or be thankful because we are entitled to whatever we have, and should have that and more. Yet, this is one of those good ol’ ego beliefs that only serves to keep us stuck in a rut pattern. The Universe is not “supposed” to take care of us, so the feeling of entitlement is an irrational thought. When we expect the “The Universe” to take care of us, we give up our power to create change. We don’t take responsibility to find solutions, and we give up our personal power to be creative and effect change. When we identify with “the victim”, we ask for pity. Yet, pity is condescending. So when we are pitied, it stimulates our ego to become competitive, to prove it’s better, to get as much as it can so it has more than anyone else. But since we have already given the Universe the message that we have receive “nothing”, we receive more nothing. But this only happens because we are getting what we ask for! WE are asking for pity and we are getting it. Yet, pity feels controlling, so we reject it. The feeling others should take care of you is not even possible, because you can do that better than anyone.

As this Total Solar Eclipse goes directly through the Ascendant of Washington, DC, we receive the message that arrogance has misguided us. To think this is not a reflection of our own inner selves is further misleading. Not accepting our responsibility for how things are keeps us in denial, where we can comfortably blame whoever seems to be the culprit. Meanwhile, we forget to look at ourselves, the only place we can start the process of change. Yet, if our ego needs to always be The Best, we block the process of learning about ourselves. We can’t learn because we are in competition and have to know more, be better than anyone else, and we keep ourselves in a frantic state of trying to get more. People always ask me, “so what do I do?” First and foremost, are you giving your best to someone who doesn’t care or appreciate it? Are you hoping they will save you, protect you, or are they taking you for granted? If you’re always waiting for someone to give you more, your relationships will not be balanced because you are not involved in a balanced give-take relationship. You are trying to get as much as you can in a frantic manner, and disregarding what you are receiving. You are also glossing over the real source of all love, that starts with you. So start appreciating you! There must be something good happening for you. Notice it. Focus on it. Express something positive, step into your higher self and watch as new options open up. It’s Leo, be regal!

Blessings to you!

Ongoing Astrology Note: Chiron and Neptune are both in the 3rd decanate of Aquarius. And they will continue to travel together for the next few years, culminating in an exact conjunction in February 2010. You can read what I wrote about this long-term Chiron-Neptune conjunction on artcharts.

Astro Tip of the Week: There’s a Total Solar Eclipse is next week, so it’s time to refresh our Eclipse knowledge. Here’s a link to an Eclipse diagram on wikipedia. Solar Eclipses occur when the Lunar Nodes, either South or North, are conjunct the Sun and Moon. A New Moon that occurs within 18 degrees 31 minutes of the South or North Lunar Node is a Solar Eclipse. If the distance between the New Moon and the Node is between 0 and 9 degrees 55 minutes, it is a Total Solar Eclipse. Between 9 degrees 55 minutes and 11 degrees 15 minutes of either Node, it can be Total or Partial. From 11 degrees 15 minutes to 18 degrees 31 minutes, it’s a Partial Solar Eclipse. The Solar Eclipse on August 1, 2008 is 8 degrees 59 minutes from the South Node, making this a Total Solar Eclipse.

This is Saros cycle 126, and 10S in the Brady method: suddenly, the path clears.

Mars in Leo: energize you

Mars enters Leo on Friday, May 9, 2008.

Mars, the red planet, traditionally represents energy. It’s what drives you, what takes your from an idea to an action. It’s how you feel alive and vital, animated and strong. It can help you to be assertive. Or, if Mars is imbalanced, it can help to make you passive/aggressive. In the body, it’s your muscles and adrenals.

As Mars enters Leo, the Flower Essence Report says:

“You have a robust, hearty constitution, high vitality, and strong creative forces. With your combination of firm will, positive enthusiasm, and holding steady, you are capable of achieving anything you desire. You are able to withstand a quite a bit of external pressure. You also have the urge to lead or direct things, and may flare up when things do not go your way. You tend to bowl over other people. Consider taking the flower essence TRILLIUM, to offset excessive selfish ambition, or LARKSPUR for charismatic leadership combined with joyful service (rather than for self-aggrandizement).”

To see how Mars in Leo is going to act, we look at Mars in the current horoscope (astrology chart). Mars is conjunct the Moon and quincunx (inconjunct) Pluto. These aspects give this ingress of Mars into Leo an intense emotional quality. You can see what you’re willing to DO when something is crucial, when you absolutely need something to happen. You can see this drive or force strongly now, and it can be a lesson to yourself on how much you are capable of, the next time you don’t feel like doing something.

If anger seems to be boiling up and threatening to explode, this is a signal that you need to release some of your need to control absolutely. You cannot control what others will do or think, but you can envision the results and changes you would like to see. Instead of using your energy to clamp down and tense up about a situation, take a few DEEP breaths and get yourself into a more relaxed state of mind so you can think more clearly. When all your energy is tensing, the energy does not go to your brain, it goes to your muscles so you can run. Once you start redirecting your energy, you can start thinking and getting better, more appropriate ideas.

As Mars enters Leo while conjunct the Moon and quincunx Pluto, allowing your emotions to control situations can backfire. But it’s not to embarrass you or point out your weak spots, it’s to help you to shift your emotions so they are less stressful.

Here’s what the Flower Essence Report suggests:

“Blockages or damage in the root, sacral, and solar plexus chakras (due to painful early experiences in which you were harshly dominated or abused by a more powerful individual) may need to be healed.”

And these blockages can be revealed through any strong emotional reactions.

And the Flower remedies they suggest are informative in themselves:

“these flower and gem essences can accelerate and support your healing process: FUSCHIA and SCARLET MONKEY FLOWER (which surface and help release suppressed anger), HOLLY (for releasing toxic emotions such as spite, envy, the desire for revenge, jealous suspicions), FIREWEED (for releasing and healing old angers), TIGER LILY (balances overly aggressive, competitive, excessively “yang” energy).”

And to calm and balance your emotions, they suggest spraying lavendar, patchouli, or violet, lovely in the spring. Plant some impatiens if you’re feeling impatient.

Achieving a state of relaxation is especially important as Mars enters Leo. There is potent energy, and it can be accessed if you’re in a calm and balanced state of body and mind.

Leo Full Moon: reversals

[Full Moon @ 01 Leo 54 on Tuesday, January 22 @ 8:35 am est]
[Pluto enters Capricorn on Friday, January 25 @ 11:35 pm est]
[Mercury stations Retrograde @ 23 Aquarius 53 - Monday, January 28 - Monday, February 18]
[Mars stations Direct @ 24 Gemini 05 on Wednesday, January 30 @ 5:33 pm est]

The energy of the Leo Full Moon is “reversal”. There’s a Full Moon (Moon opposes Sun and Moon) while Mercury stations Retrograde and Mars stations Direct.

Meanwhile, we just entered Aquarius, the New Year isn’t brand new anymore. So what happened to the excitement and resolutions that were going to make this a great year!?

The Leo Full Moon reminds us of love. And all love starts with self love.

Self love fills us with pride and gives us the WILLPOWER to push past obstacles and keep the faith that good things are going to happen. You can set and meet goals because you KNOW you are going to succeed.

But what happens when you don’t meet your goals or get what you want. And worse, when you don’t get what you KNOW you deserve. If your goals aren’t met quickly, relying only on WILLPOWER alone can start to get exhausting over time. And less productive. And now you have another goal that seems unattainable, another reason “it can’t work.”

This is reversal. It happens when your energy is literally running backwards through your meridians, causing you to achieve the OPPOSITE of what you thought you intended! And the harder you try, the farther you seem to get. Somehow, your subconscious is getting a message that is the OPPOSITE of what you want. There are several reasons this can happen. And there is NO blame because they are all subconscious and likely originate from incidents in the past. And they are being revealed (and hopefully healed) by the current Full Moon that occurs as Mercury stations Retrograde while Mars stations Direct.

Here’s the good news. The energy reversal that started during Mars Retrograde can get re-wired and re-connected while Mercury is Retrograde in Aquarius.

Your energy can get reversed when you are not really ready to achieve your goals. And there can be good reasons for hesitating or procrastinating. Succeeding at something can mean having to give up something else. And this can set off inner conflicts. Maybe you’re not ready to make a sacrifice, go the extra distance, make a change or a binding commitment– if it means giving up something that gives you comfort and makes you feel safe.

Since the New Year, like many of you, I’ve received countless emails promising me a new life if I sign up for a program, costing me $ per month. I’m sure many of these emails, pdfs, podcasts, books, eBooks, videos, DVDs, and teleseminars will get me motivated to achieve and succeed, but the sheer number of them is overwhelming. Yet, they have a timely message.

We are entering an era when more of us can learn how to succeed professionally, as long as we’re willing to concentrate and commit. This is the year of Jupiter in Capricorn, so we have an abundance of business gurus, wealth mentors, and life coaches to teach us the steps to success. It’s a growing field and will eventually bubble, although this year, telling people you can help them make big bucks can make YOU big bucks– if you’re truly an expert. If you’re not, Jupiter can help you expand your confidence, education, and professional reach until you become an expert.

Defining the cultural trends and limits are the “social planets” Jupiter and Saturn. They are currently trine, or capable of working harmoniously together. And the Jupiter-Saturn trine is also trine Asteroid Goddess Ceres, creating a Grand Trine in Earth. (Check out the inspiredastrology blog for the discussion on the Jupiter-Saturn-Ceres Earth Grand Trine.) If you have a goal in mind, but achieving it has started to seem unrealistic, you can start to feel like giving up is the only realistic thing to do. Still, that does NOT mean your goal is unattainable! But it may mean that manifesting it may be more complicated or challenging than you thought. And this can bring you face-to-face with inner blocks and conflicts that make you feel wrong or undeserving– just for having a goal. And if that’s true, no matter how well you hide it, that internal conflict will come up every time you think about your goal, making it hard to just get started. Your subconscious can find a way to sabotage every attempt you make to manifest your goals. It’s not out of cruelty, your subconscious is trying to give you more of what gives you energy. There is only one message you can give your subconscious to override its habitual beliefs. And that’s self-love– accepting and loving yourself no matter what happened in the past. We need to extend to ourselves the universal, unconditional love we would like to radiate and extend to others. And radiating love comes from connecting to your own inner source of love. We are kicking off a season of getting back to that source.

This (almost ending) Mars Retrograde included 2 oppositions to Pluto, with 1 more opposition to come after Mars starts moving forward (March 7 in Cancer). Your energy can get diverted or disrupted by holding on to resentment, feelings of betrayal and broken promises. Subconsciously, you may want to deny or punish someone for not living up to a promise or filling a need. Focusing on negative emotions is yet another way to divert energy and hold yourself back from achieving your goals. Letting go of the past, including past resentments, can mean changing. You may start to look and act differently, and that can seem false to your history, your identity. And what if you disappoint people who rely on you for being a certain way? This feeling that changing will disappoint others lowers and/or reverses your energy enough to lose any enthusiasm you start to build. Not only does this make it more challenging to do the things you want to do, it makes it very difficult to know and attract what you want. And you can easily sabotage anything you want, and blame someone else for the situation.

In general, when you blame or compare, your energy gets reversed, which means it runs backwards. And when your energy is reversed, you get the OPPOSITE results of what you say and think you want.

Perhaps it’s just mind over matter. But before assuming that, check out some scans of brains experiencing negative feelings, and those experiencing positive feelings. The brain produces chemicals than cause electric charges and chain reactions. Those chemical and electrical reactions continue to cause chain reactions of energy that move throughout the body, either carrying healing or toxic energy to every part of the body. Including the mind.

Blaming yourself can be an “automatic” or learned reaction, but it clouds your ability to see what’s really going on so you can react appropriately. This Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius is about taking the next step to greater awareness. And during the Leo Full Moon, that awareness needs to highlight the power of self-love to open your heart and accept yourself as you are. Even though you may feel anger, resentment, and a list of other negative emotions, you can still love and accept yourself. And at this Full Leo Moon with Mercury stationing Retrograde in Aquarius, feeling your self-love and acceptance will give your inner self the message that a positive change is possible. Sure, there are conflicts, but a solution is also possible! And– you can even re-wire your belief systems so negative feelings no longer have the hold over your future that they held in the past.

Getting angry at the person who made a mistake or disappointed you only serves to keep your energy in reverse. You can move forward anytime you take responsibility (power) for your choices. Knowing that, why isn’t it easy to change our habits and behavior? Maybe there are secondary benefits we get that we enjoy and are not ready or willing to give up;-)

Whether or not we consciously realize it, we make choices all the time. Pluto in Capricorn, the sign ruled by Saturn, INSISTS that we take responsibility for how we use our power to choose, which includes our money, individually and collectively. And if we don’t, Pluto in the sign of Saturn will make corrections. It’s already shown us this can and will happen. The more aware you can be of your choices, the more you can reclaim your personal, and financial power.

Before you blame and drain your energy, let Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius give you the time and opportunities to re-think your expectations. As Mercury stations Retrograde in Aquarius over the next few weeks, are your expectations realistic? Sustainable realism is important now as Jupiter and Pluto enter Earth-sign Capricorn and ruler Saturn trines them both from Virgo. Also, this Mercury Retrograde station is defined by the Mercury-Neptune conjunction (Jan 22, Feb 2, Mar 9), a time when ideas can filter into your consciousness from your subconscious. What happens if your expectations are not met to your satisfaction? What happen if they ARE? Are your expectations reasonable, sustainable? Are you demanding something from someone that you are capable of giving to yourself? If so, ask yourself why you think you need that other person to do it for you. This is yet another self-restricting attitude that blocks your flow of self-love and drains your energy. And disruption of energy blocks your happiness, which can lead to dis-ease, bad attitudes, lowered expectations, less energy, negative vibrations, and the inability to manifest your dreamlife. But you can manifest your joy and abundance when you feel connected to your essential self. And this Full Moon in Leo reminds us that love starts within and has the power to set us fre*e.

A Prayer on the New Moon

The New Moon is in Leo.

Leo is love. This Moon is in the 7th house of “the other”. We are instructed to “Love thy Neighbor as Thyself”. Yet, many of us are quick to blame our faults and problems on others. We are disconnected from our love and blame others, and that make us sad. Life is about being joyous, yet we deny ourselves the flow of joy in our lives. When we resesent, take offense, treat others with suspicion first, and fail to appreciate others as themselves, we are going against the flow, we are denying our own best interests. We want to control others. We want to decide how they “should” behave, what they “should” think, what their soul’s purpose “should” be. And since that is not really possible, we become bitter. We create barriers instead of opening ourselves to love. And we blame instead of feeling care and consideration. We get smaller and feel worse, when the goal is to expand and feel joyous.

When presented with an opening to receive more love, we are skeptical. We don’t have the time, we don’t have the patience to experiment, we see no point in being still and opening to our inner source of well-being. We deny ourselves, and by doing that, we deny whoever we contact. We’re not getting what we need, so we deny it to everyone, we vibrate denial. If we see someone who is generous, we think of how we can take more. We want to stop that flow of generosity. Better cut them down to size! And so continues the cycle of feeling worse.

Changing all that is as easy as releasing it and moving back into the love. The love is always there. Patiently waiting, sending you good wishes however you are feeling. Do something to feel good, and let the love radiate. Feeling good is the intention.

in Love&Light,
Lauren
