The New Moon in Virgo is September 8, 2010 at 6:30 am EDT. It is also a supermoon New Moon, a term coined by astrologer Richard Nolle which means the Moon is perigree, or close to the Earth. It could pay to be aware of approaching windy storms.

The ruler of the New Moon in Virgo is Mercury, and Mercury is still Retrograde in Virgo, but approaching a Direct station on September 12. You may have to be patient– this is a thorough New Moon and every detail counts.

It’s a good time to plan and organize, yet stay calm and continue breathing even if your progress seems endlessly stuck in re-do’s and details right now. You may need to do something twice, meet with someone again, reorganize something. The extra-strength Virgo effect can seem like nothing is ever going to be perfect enough to satisfy the critics, including your own inner voice.

If you have to have it all right now, you could find yourself disappointed at the pace– especially if you are focusing on results you can count, and that people will notice. If you do whatever everyone else thinks is cool, you can find yourself in unstable conditions, without a focus of your own. Do something relaxing to keep your nerves calm.

Mercury rules the New Moon reminds us of the mind-body connection, suggesting that we need to keep breathing deeply to think clearly.

The New Moon in Virgo comes just 4 days before ruler Mercury stations Direct — in Virgo. Thorough preparation counts. As the current Mercury Retrograde comes to a close, your newly expanded awareness can be help you access new and better information. This is the perfect time to take care of all the details you’ve put on hold. Clear up and clean out, office and kitchen especially. And be ready for a new season of business, learning, and networking.

As Abraham-Hicks reminds us, and it is especially relevant right now, “you never get it done — and that where you stand is a wonderful place.”

Mercury Retrograde: August 20 – September 12, 2010

Mercury Retrograde in Virgo — August 20, 2010 – September 12, 2010

We entered the Retrograde shadow on July 31; we leave the Retrograde shadow on September 27.

Astrologers tell us that Mercury Retrograde is a time when nothing works and trying leads to more errors.

Astrologers are slightly off.

The interesting thing about Retrogrades is that you can make progress– it’s just not conscious, external progress.

When Mercury enters the Shadow Zone, we feel like there is nothing we can’t do. There are no limits if we just put our mind to it, or call the right person, or download the right software.  Yet, the rest of the population may not have quite caught up. Just before the Retrograde Station, our minds can get ahead of what we can realistically accomplish; there just not be the support or understanding yet for all we’re trying to do.

Then comes the Retrograde station and our plans can get derailed. We can call it “fate” yet it’s really our inner unconscious trying to make contact.

During Mercury Retrograde stations, our thinking is more in the unconscious realm. So we miss more minor details, creating more clerical errors. But often, these clerical errors lead to making connections we would never have made; like having to contact someone because your discover an error, and you wind up exchanging important information, or becoming friends. So progress is still possible– it’s just not conscious. That’s why activities like writing, talking, walking, and breathing can uncover details and distinctions that can actually lead to important personal progress.

If you thought you were efficient and organized, hold on! Mercury is in Virgo and will be there for over 2 months, exceeding its usual transit in a sign and taking its time to uncover all errors in full detail.

Mercury’s extended stay in Virgo is due to an upcoming Mercury Retrograde station in Virgo. Since Virgo is the sign of practical learning and streamlined efficiency, how can you use your skills and time to your best advantage? The next few months may give you some insights…

Next Mercury Retrograde:

11 Practical Tips for a Productive Mercury Retrograde in Virgo:

    1. Reread self-help and new age books
    2. Think again about the need for perfection, what’s really behind it. Interview your “inner perfectionist”
    3. Go back to school for job-related studies and skills; brush up on practical skills you may not have used in awhile; or learn something new and practical about your profession
    4. Reorganize your daily routine so that it works for you.
    5. Give a second thought to how you communicate with co-workers, employees, anyone who serves you. Kind communication can create good-will and more assistance, while venting inappropriately can create endless errors… Rethink what people are really supposed to do for you.
    6. Get back to your exercise routine; it’s a great time to improve your health
    7. Sell your used books and office equipment– space and cash!
    8. Reorganize your office or work space. Using feng-shui can help you be more productive, and successful
    9. Is your workspace ergonomic? This is a good time to reconsider your keyboard/mouse/screen configuration; your work needs to honor mind and body
    10. Clean out old files, clean your workspace. Old files and dust accumulate, and your computer will run better without them
    11. Rethink pet care. If you lose a pet during Mercury Rx, you are likely to find it!

Virgo is the sign of service. Virgo comes after the creative fire of Leo, and before the sharing and friendship of Libra. What comes between the creative act and the sharing makes all the difference in your creative flow. Between your inner creative impulse, and the finished product is all the learning, research, practice, editing, clerical work, sorting, organizing, and skill it takes to create anything worth sharing.

This is the domain of Virgo. It serves us. As the area between our creativity and the public, it serves our creative flow. We meet Virgo in all the paperwork we have to do for ourselves or our business. We meet Virgo whenever anyone has to assist us to get from point A to point B. We meet Virgo whenever we have to learn something or follow directions. The skill of Virgo helps to guide us through complicated procedures.

When we treat Virgo like a servant, it’s a symbol of how we dam up our own creative flow. When we honor the service of Virgo, we open the gateway for our creative flow.

    ________Saturday, August 21_________

Today’s Astrology Horoscope (for all signs)

Saturday night. As the Moon enters Aquarius, the cloud lifts, the future seems bright, your friends are ready to have fun. The atmosphere is supportive and positive. And tomorrow, the good feelings just keep growing and energizing.

Friday. Mercury stations Retrograde. Venus conjuncts Mars. Even the best, most practical and constructive new ideas can take additional time and information to actualize. While affections can grow… It is possible for money to accompany passion.

Friday’s Venus-Mars conjunction just got its own post, click here for new info on Venus-Mars today!

Venus-Mars gets more interesting (which is why it got its own post) as they both changes signs in September and enter Scorpio. At that point, they move from Venus-ruled Libra into Mars-ruled Scorpio. What goes around, comes around, and this is a good time to see things from different sides without having to go very far.

    Mercury Retrograde
    Venus – Mars conjunction
Saturn – Pluto square (plus Jupiter-Saturn opposition

Mercury Retrograde stations can be confusing, the change of direction can make your mind spin as the pace can change rapidly. Along with Mercury Rx, the Sun is opposing Neptune. Things may not seem quite as clear as they seemed. Words and messages can be taken differently than intended. Is there a communication breakdown– or– perhaps our imaginations are reminding us to check in with our inner spiritual Self.

Thursday. The day before the storm. I’d say the calm, but it’s the frantic before the storm. Friday, Mercury stations Retrograde, Venus and Mars conjunct, and Saturn and Pluto square. The problem is, we value frantic — even more than calm inner peace. We think we are making progress when we have lots to do. We’re simply too busy to even look at what our inner self is trying to tell us. When our entire focus is on the ego, or what’s outside, we run right into difficulties. But our culture has a solution– blame whoever or whatever force “got in our way.” Just as long as we don’t look into our inner self. And without doing that, we give up our essential right to be ourselves– and allow ourselves to get even more frantic. And that what makes the “corrections” of retrogrades so hard on us. We feel that we should have whatever we want and put as much energy into our agenda as possible, yet, we don’t live on this planet alone and sometimes we all need to slow down and chill out. The day before Mercury Rx is usually not that day!

This week started with a First Quarter Moon in Scorpio [23 Scorpio 47].

The Moon in Scorpio squares the Sun in Leo. This also places the Moon at the focal point of a Fixed T-Square, as the Moon squares both Sun and Neptune (as Sun approaches opposition to Neptune).

Will suspicions be revealed or will revelations be suspicious?!

    Here’s the chart:

first quarter moon on august 16, 2010

The First Quarter Moon squares the Sun and opposes Neptune, putting the Moon at the Sun/Neptune midpoint. Here’s the Daily Moon description of this aspect:

“Moon opposite Sun/Neptune. This is a time for dreaming, for healing and for helping those less fortunate than you. Your instincts can carry you up to your highest ideals, filling you with inspiration and showing those around you how magical life can be.”

This Quarter Moon can reveal (privately) just how personally you take things and how much that effects how well you treat yourself and others. Hidden agendas can come to a breaking point as emotions intensify, regardless of how much you think you have it under control. (Secret) demands can have deep roots that may not be easy to notice, or change. Negative beliefs and feelings can be held onto tightly and shared psychically, thinking it’s going undetected. When you realize that holding tightly to resentment and other negative emotions keep you in a tense pattern that holds you back, you can more easily release your most resistant, persistent, deep-rooted negative feelings, without a dramatic outburst. If you can use your ability to focus your emotions to maintain self-control and hold onto your inner dignity– regardless of the (subliminal) hecklers, you can be the power-star that you truly are.
