New Moon in Pisces and chart

New Moon in Pisces on March 15, 2010

New Moons are the most powerful, and the most overlooked lunations. Pisces, as the last sign of the zodiac, is the time to end old patterns and make space for new beginnings. If someone really isn’t kind, loving, and supportive to you, this is the time to let them go! This is the END of victimhood, if you chose it!

What illusions are you ready to give up or break through?!?!!!If you’re having fun poking sarcastic holes in everyone’s dreams and auras, you are moving quickly away from positive contact and closer to irritating everyone, consciously and unconsciously [New Moon ruler Neptune is semisquare Venus in Aries, intensified by Uranus in Pisces with ruler Neptune in Aquarius, ruled by Uranus, putting Uranus and Neptune in mutual reception]. The New Moon is conjunct Uranus, so you can make changes, but you have to awaken from the dream. And we have to do it together.

Why are you choosing to block your own imagination? And what’s locked behind your blocks? Do you really have to start the path as a master? Can your ego let go long enough to be a beginner?

Not knowing is not easy.

But what if something wonderful happened. What if resistance turned into authentic interest. According to this New Moon chart, you could become motivated and make a JUMP in a heartbeat. This is a New Moon in PIsces conjunct Uranus, all very universal themes. Starting to trust each other lets us UNIVERSALLY release thoughts that block us individually and collectively. But if our patterns are built on fears and past fears that we refuse to look at and acknowledge, we start to tear apart and cover up. What would you do if you weren’t afraid to say you’re afraid? What IS possible?! IF you were willing to make a commitment that went beyond past failures and disbelieving eyes and ears that seem to question and STOP you?

If you really want to empower yourself, this New Moon guides us to be compassionate! Give your optimism generously! This is not only “spiritual” it’s physical as chemical reactions occur in your body. Do we want to heal or do we want to be part of the epidemic of discouragement? Every time we think we are effectively discouraging another person, we are really shooting ourselves in the foot. And that may be closer to the root of health care “reform”. Shooting yourself in the foot just got universal.

This is the moment when BELIEF can be powerful.

Either we all participate by encouraging and empowering each other, or we keep on taking anyone with an intelligent thought as a loser to be taken advantage of– or we wake up. What do you think will happen?!?

Last Week’s Astrology Odds&Ends (for all signs)
Happy Valentine’s Day!
As the Moon moves closer to Venus and Jupiter, this is a day to celebrate LOVE!!! Feel it and share it!

Overnight was the New Moon in Aquarius. This is a true make-a-wish New Moon.

It’s time to upgrade something major in your tech life — now! Learn a new way to connect. Start a new trend! Social network.

What you learn now may be a stretch– but after the learning curve, you can find fun, profit, and friends!

For the first time since December 5, Mercury changed signs and entered Aquarius this week. New ideas abound and everyone gets the chance to speak their new ideas.

As Mars continues to move Retrograde (backwards) through Leo, it creates a double Yod with Saturn, Pluto, and Jupiter. And this Yod will stay in effect for about a month and a half — until Mars makes its Direct station and starts moving forward…. For Valentine’s Day, Venus joins the double Yod. It’s a time when we can be tested to see how generous or greedy we need to be– and the results can be extremely karmic. Changey needs to happen. Hopey too. And if it doesn’t we need to look at ourselves, not blame others. So we can expect bigger problems! And from our big, positive thinkers, bigger and better solutions.

Here’s a chart for the double Yod. Only the Yod aspects are visible. This Yod will be in effect through Spring 2010. Venus joins for Valentine’s Day

In our “everything-costs-too-much” culture, things that are FREE are FUN!! What a relief!!! Yet, every time we get something for “FREE” someone did not get paid. Most of the “FREE” offers I get sound great– they are from smart marketers looking to sell me something VERY expensive– even after I bought something that I thought was expensive!!! Meanwhile, it can seem like I got enough information, even if I only got one small part of a big picture. Many of us are just looking for hints and clues to bring into our own meditations. Giving away things for FREE is a choice. It can also be stimulated by market competition. The current double Yod pattern including Mars, Pluto, Saturn, and Jupiter shows us that we may not GET everything we want directly. Since we are asked to pay more and more for our basic needs, getting something back for nothing seems like something we deserve. Yet, the attitude of deserving and expecting keeps us like children, looking for big people to take care of us. We are the big people! What about the gifts each of us can share. How can each of us give something, even indirectly, that makes a difference. Yet, it’s the people who care who will take this message seriously, and the ones who really don’t who will continue to blame and shame and make sarcastic remarks– not because they’re funny– it’s just how they operate and spiritual consciousness remains a “joke”.

Valentine’s Day is Sunday!

On the eve of Valentine’s Day there’s a New Moon in Aquarius (Feb 13). It is on the NEW MOONS that the power is released and we can affect true change. And at the FULL MOON we see the effects of the changes. Yet, we mostly ignore the New Moons because we don’t see them. So here’s a chart for the Aquarius New Moon:

new moon february 13, 2010

new moon february 13, 2010

Read the symbols using artcharts LEGEND

New Moons are seed times. Energy picks up so we can plant new seeds that will grow. It’s a time to start new projects and let the energy move us forward. This is the New Moon in Aquarius, when we can connect to new networks, contact more people, get our new ideas out there. Yet, the New Moon only makes a conjunction to Neptune (and Chiron)– in other words, this is a good time to connect with a spiritual teacher. Or go to the movies! Ideas and insights can be great inspirations now, much more than emotions or feelings.

Astrologically, Venus has just entered Pisces (Feb 11) and will conjunct Jupiter (Feb 16) — more love!!! There are opportunities to melt with LOVE. But these are only opportunities! VEnus is also inconjunct Mars and Saturn– if you expect to “get” love, you can be disappointed as it slips through your grasp, once again. This is about the need to adapt. Before you point the blame elsewhere, what is the NEW MOON doing in YOUR chart? What is VENUS doing in YOUR chart? What do you really need? What are your feelings based on? Why do you attract what you do? What are you really putting out there???

Sales of reports that would actually shine a light on our very human complaints and help us find real answer (ie, Lunar Return, The Relating Potential Report, Hidden messages, The Love Forecast) are rare. We have free will. We just don’t want to have to make the effort to exert it. It’s not our fault, it’s the way we have trained ourselves to see the world, over long periods of time. When we take astrology with a “grain of salt” and think of it as “crap we can get anywhere” — that is our own resistance we have encountered! Finding someone or some situation to blame seems easier, and right. If you self-reflect, and you’re wrong, what then?!? Yet when blame doesn’t change anything and our ruts only get deeper, we still keep blaming and making the same excuses. For how long? 10 years? 20, 30, 40, 50… And what IS the price of not living your life? There is a daily cost. There is a lifetime cost. There is a world cost. Yet, resistance is part of the human condition. Awareness is a challenge we can choose to take on or neglect.

Valentine’s Day, the day of love and romance– ruled by planet Venus– finds planet Venus in a both the wonderful and somewhat uncomfortable position of being inconjunct Mars and Saturn– while approaching a conjunction with expansive Jupiter. Love is real and growing, love can be lucky. But it’s not a straight path. In relationships, respect is as important as love. You can realize how many ways being taken for granted erodes trust and downgrades the quality of important relationships. The need to “get over” can start to seem like taking advantage– are you in a loving relationship or looking for chink in each other’s armor, holes in your stories, ways to start fights. Or, you may feel like your relationship is only one way and it continues only due to your insistence and willingness to make more compromises and do more than your share. Wanting someone too much can throw off the natural balance of the relationship, especially if you are measuring how much you receive to make sure you are really loved. Or feeling you are not loved because your partner is not centered in the relationship in the ways you are. Awareness is half the challenge! As the Moon waxes — and Venus and Jupiter conjunct on Tuesday– you can start to make adjustments.

astrology chart for the new moon of february 24, 2009

You can read the symbols using artcharts LEGEND

Since the Lunar Eclipse, and continuing through this week, Mars and Jupiter are traveling together in the sky. This week, Mercury joins to form a triple conjunction, which also includes the Lunar North Node (a point, not a planet, yet influential).

This is high energy. In Aquarius, it’s time to put serious energy into networking. And with the Sun and Moon in Pisces, it’s time to be more compassionate when you network. Pisces is a sign of higher math and finance, and this New Moon is the perfect time to get together with like-minded groups and friends because the NEW ideas you throw around now could just be the beginning of something BIG. Jupiter magnifies everything it touches. And with Mars, you can be unstoppable.

But what if you want everything! This combo can be so exuberant, you can overpromise the world. Mars heats, and it also cuts. This conjunction can heat temperatures and cut prices, and as Mercury conjoins, jobs. Especially jobs connected with Mercury and Jupiter, which is publishing, transportation, education; all the things that make the world go round. Yet, as we all come together to share, the new ideas we generate can take us further along on the road to progress faster than ever thought possible.

So why is there resistance? For that we look to Saturn. Saturn is opposing Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, and there’s a concentration of energy in Aquarius. So all this uber exuberance has to be correctly digested and used appropriately, in an ordered and exacting way since Saturn is in Virgo. For example, you can use technology if you read and follow the directions. Then, you can use technology to your best advantage. I will continue this discussion in a new post I’m writing called: money in the new age. I’m making notes, but it’s hard to find the time these days….

Lunar Eclipse of February 9, 2009

Filed under: astrology, eclipse, lunar eclipse, new moon — Tags: , — inspiredastrology @ 12:41 pm

Lunar Eclipse on February 9, 2009
Full Moon: Moon opposes Sun at 9:49 AM EST
Sun at 21 Aquarius 00; Moon at 21 Leo 00

The chart for the February 9th Lunar Eclipse is like a classic “locomotive chart”, with the Moon in Leo driving the train and Saturn right behind her in Virgo. All the other planets are on the opposite site of the chart, meaning that everyone is watching and wondering what he’ll do. By he, we can’t help but think of one of the most famous Leos on the planet, our new President Obama. In Mr. Obama’s chart, the Eclipse Moon is between his Sun and Uranus, within 2 degrees of his Descendant (7th house cusp), the place in the chart that represents how you deal with relationships. In Mr. Obama’s chart, he is literally straight forward. The Ascendant-Descendant horizon line represents what you put out and how it is reflected, back at you and in general.

Click on this link to read the symbols

The important question to ask yourself on this Lunar Eclipse is what do you get by pointing out what you think is a fault in another, even if your faults are significantly more immediately detrimental to yourself and others. It is avoidance. Fear. Fear of looking directly at YOURSELF and being ok with what you see, good and bad. It’s ok. It is NOT shameful to be you. And thinking it is gives you what seems to be permission to rank on others. It does NO good, it DOES harm, and it is universal harm. Telling everyone to STOP IT is pointless, they won’t and it can even stir up the ego to refute it, point by point, as if that mattered! So, moving on….

In astrology, oppositions imply a CHOICE. We have a choice. Several in fact as Saturn opposes Uranus and almost all the planets oppose the Lunar Eclipse Moon. Are YOU doing everything you think you should? The point is, it may not really be possible to do everything at once. But, we can probably do more than we’re doing now. If there seems to be no time to do more, it’s a question of priorities and using your time more productively, not wasting as much time feeling bad about yourself or thinking about how someone is such a bad person because of endless reasons. Try using that time to do things you want to do, not diverting your energy into busy work. Make a choice to change your thoughts, open your mind, see situations more clearly.

More when and if the inspiration comes!

Solar Eclipse in Aquarius– all together NOW

Filed under: astrology, eclipse, new moon — Tags: , — inspiredastrology @ 10:31 pm

Solar Eclipse: “The Gift of Optimism”.

The Solar Eclipse occurs during the New Moon, when the Sun and Moon are conjunct the Lunar Nodes. This Eclipse is conjunct the North Node in Aquarius. It is also conjunct Jupiter. This is the “gift of optimism,” as we all receive the belief that together we can create meaningful change that will improve our future.

Can we transform our hope-filled beliefs into reality? Astrology says YES! as manifesting Saturn trines Mars and Mercury in Capricorn. We can build, but we have to plan carefully, without using our emotions to cloud the issues. There will be inconveniences (Jupiter-Saturn sesquisquare), but major, global change can feel natural at this Solar Eclipse.

Expansive Jupiter is conjunct the Sun and Moon at the time of the Eclipse, yet it does not make any other favorable aspects. And it’s not going to in the near future. So despite inner enthusiasm, there are few opportunities to extend your good will.

The approaching opposition of Saturn to the Eclipse ruler Uranus means there will be opposition to global reform from established and esteemed leaders. On a personal level, we can also be conflicted between the parts of ourselves that want to maintain the status quo and the part that wants change.

This is a time of freedom that is spiritual, karmic, and global. Only together can we take action that is meaningful and helpful. Yet, the desire to TAKE action comes from within each of us. Each of us need to feel encouraged to do our best, excited about educating ourselves, enthusiastic about sharing our ideas, and able to envision a better future. This Eclipse is about having the FAITH to create a better future.

The friends you make and the bonds you create during this Eclipse season can bring you success in the days ahead. As the planets continue their orbits, more of the planets will get to the point of the Solar Eclipse, which is 6 degrees Aquarius, 30 minutes. Jupiter arrives on February 2, Mars on February 12; Mercury on February 20, North Node on April 8.

This is the Solar Eclipse conjunct Jupiter– time to stop just long enough to give thanks! Express your gratitude for all you have and you can free your energy to reach even higher.

More to come as awareness makes itself known….

solar eclipse chart

solar eclipse chart

Despite AN AUSPICIOUS ECLIPSE you can continue to feel disappointed as long as you are asking the question– “what more can I get?” On this most auspicious Eclipse, it’s time to ask what each of us can DO for the world? Sounds cliched, but it was never more possible to DO something great and wonderful.

There is one string attached for this Eclipse to be wildly successful. And that’s EQUALITY. With Sun, Moon, and Jupiter conjunct in Aquarius, planet of the people, we are reminded of the importance of equality in our ultimate world success as a planet. If you want to emulate President Obama, read Lincoln, an Aquarian who championed equality. His birthday is coming!

I really wish I could predict the gloom and doom other astrologers are warning (so i could also seem like an “esteemed” astrologer)

Here’s something. I see a possible earthquake for the East Coast, especially NYC, or between NYC and Boston. And that would have serious repercussions worldwide. (I don’t say this lightly, living there and I doubt it will actually happen, it’s enough to have a new Senator who is not what she is labeled as.) Perhaps more wildfires on the West Coast, likely with Mars-Mercury just off the coast at Eclipse time, a hot Oscar season. But it really does look like money and jobs will start to return, although at a lower rate of pay as everyone “slashes” prices.

The only reason to predict nothing but doom is if you really do not want to change and cannot accept equality, as in a level playing field that includes the entire Earth. As viewers tell me often, they can “get it free from other countries.” To that all I can say is, we all better get used to outsourcing as a way of doing business. It works well for artcharts, as most donations to the site are from countries Americans think need their donations, like Mexico and India. Most people will go wherever a product or service is less expensive. Loyalty is not really possible in a free market world wide economy. You can see the same report I sell for less, buy it, and come right back and continue reading. No questions asked! Meanwhile, this site doesn’t make enough money to continue, and becomes yet another financial casualty. Some of us enjoy watching the demise of others. Yet, some of us realize it can be us with a pink slip and no job next Monday. Not quite as humorous then. But Jupiter in Aquarius reminds us to look for the humor in all our group interactions. So if you really have to be sole top dog, this can be one of your worst years ever. If you are into the group spirit, the sky is not your limit!

_______________

The Total Eclipse/New Moon is in Leo: standstill and awed:
connecting with your inner genius for possible group illumination.

There are times when we are awed. Eclipses are one of those times.

When we attend events, we gather in large groups to WATCH something. With perfect timing, this Eclipse coincides with the Olympics in Beijing while the Eclipse goes visibly through China, opening that country to the entire world. And as our attention goes to the main event, our minds quiet down, we stop talking, we stop thinking about what we need to get next, and we focus. On what? On someone or something doing something outside of time. We watch time stand still. We wait with baited breath as the athlete leaps through the air and does the impossible. And all together, we take a deep breath, we sigh, we are awed. We have witnessed someone going beyond what seems like normals boundaries to reach into their inner genius and do the undoable.

At the Eclipse, we watch the Sun and the Earth seem to stand still. We SEE the Moon reflected in the Sun. We SEE the planets in orbit, and they seem to stand still, just for a few minutes. We gasp, we are watching something much larger than ourselves. We are in awe.

And this experience of group AWE reminds us of our own inner genius. It opens a new doorway, a new consciousness arises. We have gone through something. We can’t go back.

Click here for a Solar Eclipse diagram on Wikipedia

But what does this Total Solar Eclipse mean? Astrologically, the inner planets — Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus — are in Leo, along with the South Lunar Node. This is a dramatic time. We are not in the mood for clever ideas, we don’t want to talk, we don’t need to get emotional– we’re in the mood to passionately pursue what we want.

This Solar Eclipse is conjunct the South Lunar Node (all Eclipses are conjunct either the South or North Lunar Node, it’s what makes them Eclipses), so we are literally full of ourselves. We feel there should be no limits to how much we can have. We want more and we may not feel much gratitude for what we have, or appreciation towards those who have given to us, dismissing it as nothing or not enough. We do not think we should have to count our blessings or be thankful because we are entitled to whatever we have, and should have that and more. Yet, this is one of those good ol’ ego beliefs that only serves to keep us stuck in a rut pattern. The Universe is not “supposed” to take care of us, so the feeling of entitlement is an irrational thought. When we expect the “The Universe” to take care of us, we give up our power to create change. We don’t take responsibility to find solutions, and we give up our personal power to be creative and effect change. When we identify with “the victim”, we ask for pity. Yet, pity is condescending. So when we are pitied, it stimulates our ego to become competitive, to prove it’s better, to get as much as it can so it has more than anyone else. But since we have already given the Universe the message that we have receive “nothing”, we receive more nothing. But this only happens because we are getting what we ask for! WE are asking for pity and we are getting it. Yet, pity feels controlling, so we reject it. The feeling others should take care of you is not even possible, because you can do that better than anyone.

As this Total Solar Eclipse goes directly through the Ascendant of Washington, DC, we receive the message that arrogance has misguided us. To think this is not a reflection of our own inner selves is further misleading. Not accepting our responsibility for how things are keeps us in denial, where we can comfortably blame whoever seems to be the culprit. Meanwhile, we forget to look at ourselves, the only place we can start the process of change. Yet, if our ego needs to always be The Best, we block the process of learning about ourselves. We can’t learn because we are in competition and have to know more, be better than anyone else, and we keep ourselves in a frantic state of trying to get more. People always ask me, “so what do I do?” First and foremost, are you giving your best to someone who doesn’t care or appreciate it? Are you hoping they will save you, protect you, or are they taking you for granted? If you’re always waiting for someone to give you more, your relationships will not be balanced because you are not involved in a balanced give-take relationship. You are trying to get as much as you can in a frantic manner, and disregarding what you are receiving. You are also glossing over the real source of all love, that starts with you. So start appreciating you! There must be something good happening for you. Notice it. Focus on it. Express something positive, step into your higher self and watch as new options open up. It’s Leo, be regal!

Blessings to you!

Ongoing Astrology Note: Chiron and Neptune are both in the 3rd decanate of Aquarius. And they will continue to travel together for the next few years, culminating in an exact conjunction in February 2010. You can read what I wrote about this long-term Chiron-Neptune conjunction on artcharts.

_______________

Astro Tip of the Week: There’s a Total Solar Eclipse is next week, so it’s time to refresh our Eclipse knowledge. Here’s a link to an Eclipse diagram on wikipedia. Solar Eclipses occur when the Lunar Nodes, either South or North, are conjunct the Sun and Moon. A New Moon that occurs within 18 degrees 31 minutes of the South or North Lunar Node is a Solar Eclipse. If the distance between the New Moon and the Node is between 0 and 9 degrees 55 minutes, it is a Total Solar Eclipse. Between 9 degrees 55 minutes and 11 degrees 15 minutes of either Node, it can be Total or Partial. From 11 degrees 15 minutes to 18 degrees 31 minutes, it’s a Partial Solar Eclipse. The Solar Eclipse on August 1, 2008 is 8 degrees 59 minutes from the South Node, making this a Total Solar Eclipse.

This is Saros cycle 126, and 10S in the Brady method: suddenly, the path clears.

Put some SUN in your Moon! That’s right. At this New Moon in Cancer, the Moon is in its rulership or home sign of Cancer. This gives the Moon more power, greater influence, more receptivity. We can consciously FEEL the effects of the New Moon, even though they are internal, personal, deeply familiar.

Like the Great Mother, the Moon contains us. The Moon is our body that contains our Spirit. And at this New Moon in Cancer, you can directly FEEL your body as container for Spirit, represented by the Sun in the horoscope. YOU are your own guide through your inner landscape, exploring and discovering interior parts of yourself, reconnecting with your inner child, and gaining new insights and abilities to heal the past. And by healing and releasing your past, you are moving energy and animating your present. Bold effort may be needed, yet by taking a calculated yet courageous risk, you can free energy that has been creating deep ruts and general apathy in your life.

The Cancer New Moon coincides with the ingress of Mars into Virgo along with the upcoming Mars-Saturn conjunction, a time for renewed awareness of our body-mind connection.

This is not the time to cover your emotions with a big happy face. Doing that will keep your emotions tucked safely inside, making it more appealing to crawl into a shell and less interesting to venture out. But this is a time you can shine a light on your emotions so they can be a source of love that can genuinely nurture you, and others. The Cancer New Moon heightens our awareness of our internal process, our past, our family, and how we feel about our most personal lifestyle choices.

Not only the Moon, but the Sun is also in Cancer, so you can experience a direct, personal realization of how love is within and around you. As you connect to your inner love, you will naturally radiate and extend your love to others, as shown astrologically by the exact opposition of Jupiter to Venus. The Moon and Sun are also approaching oppositions to Jupiter (the Moon will oppose Jupiter on July 3, the Sun on July 9). This is a time you can open your heart chakra in a way that feels safe because it moves and heals emotional energy. When you hide your feelings, nothing moves– you feel stuck because your emotional energy is stuck. Movement is necessary for healing to begin. Take an exercise break, stretch your legs and arms, move in any way you can. How are you sitting right now? Are you comfortable, grounded, clenched, crossed, upright? What tension in your body can you release right now. Take a deep breath and let it go. Now how do you feel. Awareness of your inner sensations will help you to continue to release whatever stress you are holding in your body.

This is body-mind awareness without judgement. As you realize the role your emotions play in the health of your physical body, you can start to release the emotions that are the root cause of (most) physical problems.

You may want to reconnect to parts of your past that have been previously cut off. New genetic services can trace family lines through DNA, and discovering family history can be a path to inner discovery.

You may give more thought to how you are dependent on your family, or how family-members have become dependent on you. Are you able to only give, or only receive? If either path is blocked, this can reflect in every relationship in your life.

Since Cancer is the WATER element, our psychic abilities can become more obvious during this New Moon. You can tune into the feelings and thoughts of others, without even realizing it. This can help you to empathize, but by entering into the inner space of others, you can also confuse their thoughts and feelings with your own. Is it their pain, or yours? How can you release feelings and emotions you have been holding about family members, especially old hurts and sorrows. You may find old feelings you had put into your psychic deepfreeze coming back into your consciousness through dreams or visualizations. This is a time many of us will realize how important it is to let go of judgement, of ourselves and others. We realize the power of forgiveness, of letting go of the hurt feelings and emotions that have kept you in a seemingly unchangeable role and made achieving goals seem selfish, wrong, or impossible.

By being centered and present, you can attract the admiration and inspiration you need to feel validated, valued, and on your path.

The sign of Cancer is a time of movement. So why does the energy still feel like nothing wants to move??!! That even something moves an inch, it stops again and is hard to get back into motion?

While love is expanding and growing, you can also feel that progress has ground to a halt. The energy of the Cancer New Moon can be so protective that you rather hibernate than socialize, even with your closest friends and partners. You may find you need to put all your energy into a very complicated but necessary task, perhaps something you’ve been dreading that includes clerical work or other focused detailed work. Perhaps a new job or job routine is coming.

At this New Moon, Mars has just entered Virgo (July 1) and is approaching a conjunction with Saturn (July 10). Our energy level depends on how we process, organize, and digest what we’re experiencing. Are we stressing or getting organized? Clearing clutter and getting organized can lay the groundwork that can help you to focus and be productive, even in the summer. You can start to realize how much your own thoughts have held you back– much more than anything anyone else is doing. And the thoughts can hold you back the most include second-guessing every desire. As soon as you admit a desire and state it, you can start to think of every reason it can’t possibly happen, at least until you edit your desires. And to meet some of those desires now, you may have to throw yourself into some detailed or craft work, with passion. Working on your solar plexus or 3rd chakra can help to keep energy flowing steadily, and reduce tension that comes from resistance. With patience, you can take all the steps necessary to keep moving. Even if your steps are small and calculated now, they can be skillful, practical, and get you into a healthier routine.

Astro Tip of the Week… The New Moon occurs when the Sun and the Moon conjunct. People have asked what I mean by “conjunct.” This is an astronomical event. Conjunctions occur when planets appear to be together in the sky. Measuring the planets, they are in the exact same location in the zodiac. At this New Moon, both the Sun and the Moon are at 11 degrees Cancer, 34 minutes of arc.

When planets conjunct, the energies they symbolize blend. Some blendings are complimentary and work well; others are discordant and difficult to integrate. When conjunctions are exact to the degree and minute, they can be confusing as they overwhelm each other’s energy. Or they can blend easily. But either way, the energies blend during a conjunction.

The New in Gemini on Tuesday, June 3
The New Moon is in Gemini. And Gemini’s ruler, Mercury, is Retrograde. This is a time for reflection. For rethinking, revising, and revisiting friends, neighbors, relatives. Information you may have missed or glossed over can be just what you need to know. And this is the time to find it and review it.

At the time of the New Moon in Gemini, not only are the Sun and Moon conjunct, Venus and Mercury are also conjunct the Sun and Moon.

This sounds a bit complicated, but hold on and read it through because it’s not really complicated and it’s interesting enough to spend a moment.

Although the Sun, Mercury, and Venus are conjunct from our Earth perspective, astronomically, currently in orbit, Mercury is closest to the Earth (and opposite the Sun), while Venus is opposite the Earth (and conjunct the Sun). After this weekend, Venus will rise after the Sun, and Mercury will rise before the Sun. There is the theme of switching places.

On Earth (from our perspective), Mercury is Retrograde and Venus is direct. This means the Sun and Mercury are having an “inferior” conjunction (the conjunction that occurs while Mercury or Venus are Retrograde) while the Sun and Venus are having a superior conjunction (the conjunction that occurs while Mercury or Venus are direct). After the Sun-Venus conjunction, Venus will start to rise after the Sun.

Mercury is the ruler of the New Moon in Gemini. So the current movements of Mercury can be felt in a more pronounced way.

At this point in the cycle of Venus (the “superior” conjunction”), you may want to rethink what is not bringing you love and happiness. How can you interact socially so that you enjoy yourself and make important connections? It’s not always an option to give up. Yet, insisting that everything goes your way won’t help right now. And it can set you back. What can you do to integrate and participate? It’s time to give more thought not only to what you want, but exactly how you’re going to get it. You can wish it to be true, but you will have to follow up if you want to make it real. This is a new chance, the beginning of a new cycle, even if there are a few snags along the way.

You may need to reconsider information so you can be more objective in your thinking. This is the time to re-connect with your network of friends, co-workers, relatives, and other allies to be more effective, less biased, more neutral.

At this triple conjunction of Mercury-Sun-Venus, when Mercury is Retrograde and Venus Direct, we can start to catch our thoughts– as they occur– and realize your next thought is your choice. In meditation, as you become aware of a thought, you can observe it without judgment, and let it go. And at this New Moon, you can do this in real life. Notice your thoughts, don’t judge them, and let them go. Perhaps we can learn to be PRESENT in this moment so we can remember how much we enjoy the sheer pleasure of each other’s company.
