Saturday, August 14, in late Libra, the Moon makes uplifting aspects to the Sun and Neptune. You can feel support for who you are, and that can add to your confidence level, and today’s potential to be a powerful, productive day. It’s an ideal day for active imagination. Your imagination can be energized by your feelings and emotions today, and if you allow it’s input, you can discover ideas that may be the perfect solution.
If you bypass an imaginative opportunity, you can be feeling unsettled and a little wild by Saturday night as the Moon makes an uncomfortable (inconjunct) aspect to Uranus, showing a need to stretch out. Uranus is changing signs, moving backwards from Aries into Pisces right now, so this can result in some unclear feelings and strong desires. So here’s some words from Daily Moon Forecast”
“Moon quincunx Uranus: You are in an independent or defiant mood, and you chafe at routine and formalities. However, if you have a great deal of freedom and flexibility in your life at present, you will be in a wild mood and might decide to change your plans for the day quite suddenly and spontaneously. Also today, Friday the 13th, Vesta, the centering principle, meets Saturn, the commitment principle. How much centering and commitment is necessary right now? For many of us, job pressure is becoming very real and very pressing. We find ourselves working more hours for less pay along with rising bills, and the potential of losing our jobs entirely. Many have already. So i looked at what the Advanced Forecast (including Chiron and Asteroids) has to say about the Vesta-Saturn conjunction, and in the context of the approaching Mercury Retrograde station (and impending Saturn-Pluto square), this could be useful info [astro note: Vesta is conjunct Saturn, opposing Jupiter exactly, and within a degree from an exact square to Pluto; Vesta is now part of the T-Square]:

“This is a good time to organize your work and career activities. Projects and business endeavors should prove profitable. However, you may have to dedicate yourself to hard work and self-discipline in order to achieve success. Detailed, methodical work and adhering to rules and regulations will be your specialty now. You take a more serious, mature approach to your work, as well as to your objectives and ambitions. Due to your commitment and purpose, a long-awaited goal may be achieved now. You may be more concerned and focused on your public image and your need to receive recognition for your efforts. An increase in your work load is highly probable, but you have the ability and perseverance to keep everything running smoothly. With so much of your enthusiasm directed toward work and career, make sure you allow enough time for your personal life and the loved ones who depend upon you.”
There was a one-day void-of-course Moon in Virgo from Wednesday evening, Aug 11 through Thursday evening, Aug 12, when the Moon entered Libra. As Virgo’s ruler Mercury nears a Retrograde station (and is already in the retrograde shadow) this may not be the best day to start new projects. But you can remember details that help you get something finished, or back on the drawing board.
Decisions can result in endless revisions. Just when you think you’ve got it finished, there’s something else you find that could use improvement. Don’t expect to be satisfied with results until the Moon enters Libra this evening (August 12, 6:44 pm EDT)
Although there are no major Moon aspects this afternoon, August 12, the Moon will be at the Mercury/Mars midpoint, making jumping to decisions more of a possibility. The Daily Moon Forecast says this about Mercury/Mars:
You can be quick to respond today. This spontaneity may cause you to think and talk quickly. You can feel playful and chatty, but you may also have an argumentative side. Take the time to think before making a fast remark.
This fast-paced aspects coincides with the Moon inconjunct Neptune, which makes decisions even more uncertain and possibly filled with expectations…. Mood matters! So here again, from Daily Moon Forecast:

A mysterious, dreamy, or hypersensitive mood comes over you. You may want to retreat from mundane life into some beautiful music, inspirational or escapist literature, or simply your own imagination. Perfume, incense, colors, lighting, etc. all have a more pronounced effect on you. You may have a temporary lapse in good judgment and common sense.

While the Sun and Moon are conjunct, there are many planets in opposition right now. There is a stellium of planets in Libra, opposing Jupiter and Uranus in Aries. Today (Monday, August 9), asteroid Vesta enters Libra and opposes Uranus. Vesta symbolizes centering, as Vesta in mythology represented the hearth, the center of life, the source of warmth and nourishment. As Uranus opposes Vesta, our center can feel disrupted. Wherever we’re holding on too tight, new ideas and people can “intrude” to remind us that we need to shake things up, detach, let some air circulate. An idea that seems annoying at first can be just what you needed to hear!
Right after the New Moon, Venus squares Pluto. This brings Venus into the hot seat as she also opposes Uranus and Jupiter and conjuncts Saturn. If this aspect pattern contacts your chart, you may be feeling especially emotional this week. If it doesn’t, you may gain objective insights by observing how others use their emotions for power and control.
Here’s a description of this difficult and disagreeable transit from the Advanced Forecast:
“Venus squares Pluto August 10 @ midnight, August 10. Hidden passions, fears, jealousies, longings, desires, or needs surface in you now and can stir up trouble in your closest relationships. You are prone to be compulsive or demanding in a close relationship, to be emotionally driven and to force things to a head in some emotionally-laden situation. Positively, a relationship can be deepened and reborn now, given new life by your willingness to reveal yourself completely to your loved one.”
If, instead of reacting, you can sit with an uneasy mood or feeling, you may be able to get past the power issues and get a better understanding of your mood’s underlying source. And that can help you to understand and release negative emotions.
Venus-Pluto can also think it’s being sneaky. It can undermine from behind a hidden barrier and think it’s succeeded in making a big win. Yet, its power remains meaningless, rendering it ineffective, and adding up the frustration. When the ego can’t let go, when it has to be bigger than life itself, revenge starts to look like a smart option. Most of us don’t really achieve our goals, so there you go…
Venus-Pluto intensifies any desires we feel. If we are after power and money, we can find ourselves obsessed with the object of our desires as Venus and Pluto square.
The problem with using astrology to get more money, power, or stuff is that you are mixing metaphors. You are using one system to get something out of another. Astrology uses SYMBOLS, and SYMBOLS are beyond physical reality. Using a symbol to get more money or power is quite literally black magic. But that is what most of us are conditioned to expect from astrology, so we fear it and see it as evil. Astrology, as i practice it, is about discovering the meaning in the symbols of your chart. This is not so you can make a killing. This is about the inner psychic life, the soul, the unconscious that wants to become conscious through the use of astrological symbols. Ok, you’re bored. Symbolic language speaks to the unconscious by providing it with meaning. Not the kind of meaning that defines and counts, which is also helpful, but the kind of meaning that makes your life make sense. Astrology can bring a true inner healing, and has for many of my clients over the years. But not everyone believes in the inner life, many of us have let our egos convince us nothing exists outside the ego. So especially when there is a square aspect from Venus to Pluto, it can seem justified to attack what doesn’t work, even if you’re using it wrong. It takes study and patience to understand spiritual principles, and if we bypass that, it’s ok, but then we are open to misuse of power without even knowing it. And we are subject to being used unconsciously. We can spend our time attacking and counterattacking. Yet, the person you’re really hurting is ourself. And the more of us who engage in attacking ourselves and others, the more negative vibrations we radiate.
Despite all these difficult testy aspects, the New Moon in Leo is a time of personal renewal. You can radiate your love, but get into trouble if there are power issues. The truth is most of us are trying to achieve a balance between love and power. If we were all love all the time, how would we eat and take care of ourselves? Relying on others for our sense of personal well-being is not only risky, it doesn’t work because it’s mixing internal and external. What you receive from outside may not coincide with what you are feeling within. Our culture values the outside over the inside, so we look for rewards, ratings, meaning from outside that can only come from within. But if what’s within us isn’t “good enough”, then we discount ourselves. And naturally we pass that discount on to others. And continue to look outside for what can only come from within. And that continues our frustration, keeps us in a rut, or at a low level of functioning. Or, we can release our power issues, realize we can’t control everything, and start to let our inner meaning give us the happiness we deserve.
