So what is happening with the low level energy? Seems to be stuck…
Briefly, here’s why.
Mercury just entered the Retrograde zone, more on that coming early next week!
And, both Mercury and Mars are void of course. They are at the end of the signs they’ve been in and will not make any more aspects to other planets until they change signs on Tuesday, August 25. Mars will enter Cancer AND, on the same day, Mercury will enter Libra.
Cancer and Libra are CARDINAL signs. They gets things moving. They initiate action.
Like the Moon, when planets are void of course, there’s less interaction. Less happens.
And this is Mars, the action planet, waiting to make a change…..
With Mars void of course in late Gemini, it’s a good time to think things over before taking new action, especially what is most near and dear to us, as Mars will enter Cancer, and Mercury will enter Libra. It will be time to ACT.
Mercury is preparing for a Retrograde station on September 7. That means Mercury is slowing down, which means its actions and effects are also slowing down.
Meanwhile, as Mercury enters Libra and Mars enters Cancer on Tuesday, Mercury and Mars will square, while Mars will oppose Pluto and Mercury will square Pluto. This puts Mercury at the focal point of a CARDINAL T-Square, with the potential to exponentially heat up extreme rhetoric, spice up anger with slogans, start wildfires, and let it all show. Yet, finding a resolution is an impossible challenge when all sides are more focused on self-promotion and catchy slogans that amass a larger audience, than finding real, helpful solutions.
Mars is also “out-of-bounds” by declination this week. Declinations are a measure of latitude and out-of-bounds means a planet is higher than the Tropic of Capricorn or Cancer, or 23 degrees 26 minutes. In this case, it’s Cancer. Mars will peak in declination August 28-31 and then start to retreat, yet still be out-of-bounds until September 10. When Mars is at the most extreme declination is when tempers flare and hostilities can fire up. Wars have started under this influence, as the urge to use force seems out of our ability to control. Add an opposition to Pluto, with the square to Mercury, and discussion becomes focused on who has the most power along with the force and resources to use it.
Yet, the approaching Mercury Retrograde station can give us some time to reflect on the importance of cooperation and diplomacy, and positive ideas and outreach can start to gain momentum.
On Friday August 28, Mercury sextiles Venus. This opportunity for cooperation would not happen if Mercury was not slowing down, preparing for a Retrograde station on September 7. This slight slowing down can be just enough to start letting opposing views integrate, find common ground, listen with a little more willingness to hear. Realize that cooperation just may take us all a lot farther than giving in to our anger.
Lots more coming on Mercury Retrograde and the Mercury-Mars dance of Fall 2009!
